Elastomer(Rubber)is an insulating material with dielectric strength having a decent property of flexibility.Having the properties of more insulation resistance and flexibility,the elastomeric Cables are suitable for applications in Elevators,Heater-leads,Electric-iron leads and other high dielectric and flexible applications.The UNIQUE rubber cables are manufactured conforming to IS:9986(PI)/88,IS:691 and IS:14494 for the working voltages up to and including 1100Volts.

There are various types of compounds accourding to the grades and properties as per IS:6380 such as general purpose,heat resisting and high temperature insulation.The elastomeric cables are suitable for use where there combination of ambient temperature-rise due to load remains stable upon the following limits in conductor.

CONSTRUCTION
1.Conductor:- Annealed Tinned copper/Aluminium as per IS:8130-84
1.Seperator Tape(Optional):- A polyester (Melinex) tape over the conductor.
3.Insulation:- Elastomers used for insulation are of three types.
  • General Purpose Insulation- Type IE1 of IS:6380-84
  • Heat Resisting Insulation- Type IE2 & IE3 of IS:6380-84
  • Silicon Rubber Insulation- Type IE5 of IS:6380-84
Core-Identification:- The Cores are identified either by colours or by munbers as per the following table.

Tape(Optional) : A proofed tape/PETP/RPCT/Plastic tape over insulation is privided.
Braiding : As required in different tables braiding with textile/glass yarn is provided
Compounding/Varnishing : As per the revelant tables of IS:9968(P-1)/88.
Binder Tape : It is provided over laid up cores as per the respective tables.
Sheath The elastomer used for sheathing is as per the respective tables.
  • General purpose sheath:-SE1 & SE2 of IS:6380-84.
  • Heat Resisting Sheath:-SE3 & SE4 of IS:6380-84.
